Melilotus wolgicus, also known as the Volga sweet-clover or Russian melilot, is a biennial herb native to Russia and Kazakhstan. It is commonly found in the lower Volga and Don valleys and has also been naturalized in parts of Canada with similar climates. This plant has been considered as a potential forage crop due to its ability to withstand cold and drought conditions. It is also reported to be more productive than a similar species, M. albus. Melilotus wolgicus has a large taproot and can grow up to 150 cm in height with branching stems. Its leaves are trifoliate and have ovate to lanceolate leaflets. The flowers are small, measuring up to 3.5 mm in length, and are white with pink veins.
