Lupinus littoralis, also known as seashore lupine, is a low-growing perennial herb or subshrub found along the western coast of North America. It can be found from British Columbia to northern California in sandy habitats. The plant has palmate leaves with 5-9 leaflets and is covered in shaggy white or silver hairs. Its flowers are purple with a white patch that fades to pink and are arranged in a raceme. The plant produces a legume pod containing up to 12 seeds. In the past, some Native American tribes consumed the roots of this plant.
