Lupinus diffusus is a species of lupine native to the southeastern United States. It is found in dry, sandy soils in open pine or oak woodlands. This perennial herbaceous plant grows to about 30-50 centimeters tall and has palmately compound leaves with 3-5 leaflets. The leaves are gray-green to silvery green and covered in fine white hairs. In early spring, it produces pale blue or violet flowers in a dense spike. Lupinus diffusus is also grown as an ornamental plant in gardens for its attractive flowers and silvery leaves. It is considered a vulnerable species due to habitat loss and is listed on the IUCN Red List.
