Inga sellowiana is a rare species of legume that is native to Brazil and belongs to the Fabaceae family. It is a small tree or shrub that can grow up to 8 meters in height and is known for its evergreen leaves. This species is endangered and can only be found in specific regions of Brazil, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, and Santa Catarina. It produces beautiful white flowers that bloom during certain months of the year. The genus name, Inga, comes from the Tupi word meaning "soaked" and the species was named after Friedrich Sellow, a renowned collector of Brazilian flora.
