Indigofera arrecta, also known as Bengal, Java, or Natal indigo, is a flowering plant in the Fabaceae family. It is found in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and Madagascar, and has been introduced to other regions such as the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Australia. While it is now mainly used as a green manure, it was once a significant source of Indigo dye, with a large cultivation area in India in the late 19th century. However, its production has declined significantly in the past 60 years.
