Gastrolobium celsianum, also known as the Swan River pea, is a non-toxic, low-growing shrub that is native to Western Australia. It belongs to the pea family and is recommended for garden use by the Australian National Botanic Gardens. The plant can reach up to 1 meter in height and 3 meters in width, with red flowers that bloom between August and November. Its glossy green leaves have a silvery underside. The species was first described in 1844 and was reassigned to the genus Gastrolobium in 2002. It is commonly found in the south-west region of Western Australia, growing in sandy or gravelly soils near water sources and in mallee and woodland areas. The plant is popular in cultivation and can tolerate a variety of soils and light conditions.
