Elephantorrhiza elephantina, also known as the eland's wattle or elephant's root, is a subshrub found in southern Africa. It has a unique suffrutescent habit and can grow up to a meter tall. The plant produces flowers from September to November and is mainly pollinated by African honeybees. Its pods are typically found near ground level and disintegrate quickly. This species is often confused with Elephantorrhiza burkei, which has similar aerial parts but smaller seeds and pods that persist for longer periods. The two species can be distinguished by their pod shape, position, and seed dimensions.
