Desmodium paniculatum, also known as panicled-leaf ticktrefoil, is a perennial herb in the pea family that is native to Eastern North America. It can be found in disturbed areas that receive plenty of light, such as roadsides and abandoned fields. This plant grows up to 3 feet tall with pinnately-trifoliolate leaves and light pinkish to lavender flowers that bloom from June to September. Its sticky loments, which are often found attached to shoes and pants, are arranged in a row of 2-6 segments and appear from August to October. While not as widely studied as other species of Desmodium, this plant has been found to have value as a forage for livestock during the warmer months of the year.
