Cytisus striatus, also known as hairy-fruited broom or Portuguese broom, is a tall shrub with small leaves and yellow legume flowers. It is native to the west of the Iberian Peninsula and northwestern Morocco. This plant is similar to its relative, Cytisus scoparius, but can be distinguished by its paler yellow flowers and hairy pods. It has been introduced to other parts of the world, including California, where it has become a major invasive species, causing ecological damage and displacing native species. It is also susceptible to wildfire ignition and spread. The seeds of this plant can be spread by ants, contributing to its invasive nature.
