Copaifera salikounda is a species of legume found in West Africa, in countries such as Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. It is threatened by habitat loss, and as a result, has been adopted by American guitar manufacturer Taylor Guitars as an alternative to Indian rosewood. This is due to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) regulations, which took effect on January 2, 2017, and heighten the worldwide protection of all rosewood species under the genus Dalbergia.
