Carmichaelia appressa, commonly known as prostrate broom, is a species of pea found only in the South Island of New Zealand. It is a spreading, closely-branched plant that forms circular mats up to 2 m in diameter and flowers in summer. It was first described by George Simpson in 1945 and has a conservation status of "At Risk - Naturally Uncommon" under the New Zealand Threat Classification System. Its habitat is shingle beaches close to the sea.
