Biancaea decapetala, also known as shoofly, Mauritius or Mysore thorn, or cat's claw, is a tropical tree species native to India. It has been introduced to many other locations, including Fiji, French Polynesia, and Australia, where it has become a problematic invasive species. This robust, thorny, evergreen shrub can grow up to 4 meters tall and forms dense thickets. Its leaves are dark green and its flowers are pale yellow. The plant reproduces through seeds that can be dispersed by animals and water. In Hawai‘i, where it is known as pōpoki, it can create impenetrable brambles and disrupt forest pathways.
