Bauhinia rufescens is a shrub belonging to the Fabaceae family and is found in semi-arid regions of Africa, particularly the Sahel. It can reach heights of 1-3 meters, but can also grow up to 8 meters. Despite its appearance, the thorns on this plant are actually leafless shoots. The leaves of this shrub are a deep green color and it produces dark brown pods containing seeds in clusters. This plant is commonly found in the wild and is also used as an ornamental plant.
