Aganope stuhlmannii is a deciduous tree found in tropical Africa, belonging to the Fabaceae family. It can reach heights of up to 27 meters and has a cylindrical, straight trunk with rough bark. The leaves are clustered at the ends of branches and have 4-8 leaflets. The tree is used for its timber and the red exudate from its bark is used for tanning. In Ghana, the leaves are used to treat malaria fever and in Togo, the root bark is used to treat sexual dysfunction. However, root decoctions can have a purgative effect.
