Acacia oxycedrus, also known as spike wattle, is a prickly shrub native to Australia. It can grow up to 3 meters in height and has dark green, sharp-pointed phyllodes instead of true leaves. The plant produces bright yellow flowerheads from July to October, followed by seed pods. It is commonly found in dry forests and heath in South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales. Spike wattle can be grown commercially and is frost hardy, making it a good choice for road batters or as a screen or hedge plant. It can be propagated through seed scarification or using boiling water and thrives in well-drained soil and open sun.
