Abrus melanospermus is a flowering plant belonging to the pea and bean family Fabaceae. It is found in Africa and Asia, and has also been introduced to South America. This species is commonly found in Miombo and sand woodlands in the Kalahari region. Its distribution includes countries such as Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, and many others. There are three accepted subspecies of this plant, with each having a different native range and distribution. These subspecies are found in various countries in Asia and Africa, and have also been introduced to South America.
