Halesia diptera, also known as the two-wing silverbell or two-winged snowdrop tree, is a species of shrub or small tree in the Styracaceae family. It is native to the southeastern United States and is commonly found in states such as South Carolina, Florida, and Texas. This tree is often grown for its ornamental value. It can reach heights of 4-8 meters and has deciduous leaves that are 6-12 cm long. The flowers are white and grow in clusters of 3-6. The fruit is a dry drupe with two wings, which sets it apart from other Halesia species that have four wings on their fruit. Wildlife, such as squirrels, are known to eat the unripe fruit. There are two varieties of Halesia diptera, including Halesia diptera var. diptera and Halesia diptera var. magniflora R.K.Godfrey.
