Sideroxylon celastrinum, also known as saffron plum or coma, is a spiny shrub or small tree found in Texas, Florida, and parts of Central and South America. It can reach heights of 2-9 meters and has dark green leaves and greenish-white flowers. Its fruits are blue-black drupes and it is commonly used as a food source for deer. Other names for this plant include Bumelia angustifolia, Bumelia celastrina, Bumelia celastrina var. angustifolia, and Bumelia spiniflora.
