Primula suffrutescens, also known as Sierra primrose, is a subshrub with a matlike form and a woody base covered in dried herbage. It has green, spoon-shaped leaves with jagged tips and grows in rosettes on the woody base. The inflorescences are showy, with yellow throats and magenta corollas, and the fruit is a capsule. This species is found only in California, specifically in the high mountains of the Sierra Nevada and Klamath Ranges. It thrives in rocky areas and blooms in the summer months.
