Lysimachia filifolia, also known as Wailua River yellow loosestrife, is a rare flowering plant found only in Hawaii. It is listed as an endangered species in the United States and is endemic to Oahu and Kauai. This small shrub grows up to half a meter tall and has narrow, threadlike leaves and reddish purple flowers. It can be found growing on the faces of waterfalls in wet forest habitats. Currently, there are only about 130 individuals remaining on Oahu and a single population on Kauai, which was only discovered in 2008. However, another population on Kauai was later identified as a different species. The main threats to this plant are the destruction of its habitat by feral pigs and the presence of non-native plant species such as mistflower, ti, and umbrella tree.
