Phlox dolichantha, also known as Big Bear Valley phlox, is a species of phlox found only in San Bernardino County, California. It is mainly found in the area surrounding Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains, growing in forests and the unique pebble plain habitat. This perennial herb can reach up to 30 centimeters in height and has linear or narrowly lance-shaped leaves that are arranged oppositely on its slender stems. Its inflorescence consists of one or more showy flowers at the top of the stem, with a very slender tubular throat that can be white, pink, or lavender in color. This plant is pollinated by various insects, including the hawkmoth Hyles lineata and flies of the genera Anthomyia and Tachypeza.
