Lecythis poiteaui, also known as Jarana Amarela, is a rainforest tree found in the Guianas and eastern Brazil. It can reach heights of up to 40 meters and has deciduous leaves that are elliptic in shape and can grow up to 10.5 inches long and 4 inches wide. The tree produces unbranched racemes of flowers, usually at the tip of branches, with 2 to 7 widely spaced, oddly shaped creme de minthe or white flowers. Each flower has around 1,000 stamens. The fruit of the tree is globose in shape, measuring 1.25 inches by 1 inch, and contains 4 to 6 brown, aril-covered seeds.
