Kalmia hirsuta, also known as the hairy mountain-laurel, is a plant species found in the southeastern United States. It can be found in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina, typically in sandy areas like savannahs, sand hills, and pine barrens. The plant is characterized by its coarse, stiff hairs on the leaves, which helps to distinguish it from other similar species. It is a shrub that can grow up to 1.2 meters (4 feet) tall and has elliptic to ovate leaves that can reach up to 14 mm (0.6 inches) in length. The plant produces inflorescences with 1-5 flowers in the axils of the leaves, which are pink with red spots.
