Erica cabernetea is a unique plant species that can only be found in a small area of the Western Cape Province in South Africa. It is specifically found in the Elgin Basin within the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. This small shrub has a maximum height of 15 cm and its leaves are crescent-shaped. The flowers, which are deep red and about 4 mm in size, grow in small clusters at the end of each branch. The plant's name, "cabernetea," is derived from the red wine Cabernet Sauvignon, which shares a similar color to the flowers of this plant. The fruit of Erica cabernetea is a dry, egg-shaped capsule that is approximately 3 mm in length.
