Diospyros venosa is a tree in the Ebenaceae family that is native to Southeast Asia, from the Maluku Islands to Myanmar. It can grow up to 20 meters tall and produces small, round fruits. The specific epithet "venosa" refers to the veined leaves of the tree. It is closely related to other species in the Diospyros genus, including D. ebenum and D. wallichii. The tree is found in lowland mixed dipterocarp forests and is used for its wood in handicrafts, as well as for traditional medicine and fuel. In Malaysia, it is known as "kayu arang" and in Cambodia, it is used in traditional medicine to treat various ailments.
