Diospyros squamifolia is a small tree that belongs to the Ebenaceae family. It can reach a height of 5 metres and produces round fruits that are about 1.5 cm in diameter. The name "squamifolia" comes from the Latin word for "scale-like leaf", which describes the shape of its leaves. This tree is found in lowland mixed dipterocarp forests and is native to Borneo, specifically Sabah. It is a unique species that is only found in this region.
