Diospyros leucomelas, also known as marble ebony, is a tree species that is native to Mauritius. It is a low, multi-stemmed tree with dark, rectangular, leathery leaves and short fruits. It can be distinguished from other related species by its red midribs on the leaves, which remain into adulthood. This species is primarily found in coastal and dry forests, particularly along the eastern coast of Mauritius. It is also commonly found at mid-altitudes, slightly further from the coast. Currently, it can still be found in the south-west of Mauritius and in some mountainous areas in the east.
