Saurauia papillulosa is a flowering plant endemic to the Philippines, known as papayang. It was first described by American botanist Elmer Drew Merrill, who named it after the small bumps, or papillae, on the underside of its leaves. This small tree can reach heights of 10-12 meters and has white flowers. Its leaves are oblong and have a pointed tip, with fine serrations near the edges. The underside of the leaves is pale with numerous small papillae, and they have 10 pairs of secondary veins. The flowers are organized in cymes and have both male and female reproductive structures. Saurauia papillulosa is found in wooded areas on Mount Polis in Luzon at an altitude of 1,500 meters. Its pollen is shed as permanent tetrads.
