Sambucus javanica, also known as the Chinese elder, is a species of elderberry native to subtropical and tropical Asia. It is a perennial herb or small shrub, growing up to 1-2 meters tall. Parts of the plant are used locally for medicinal purposes, such as for analgesics, blood purifiers, bowel and bladder stimulants, and to aid against numbness, rheumatism, spasms, swelling, and trauma. It is also believed to be beneficial for general bone and circulatory health.
