Valeriana sitchensis, also known as Sitka valerian, is a species of valerian found in northwestern North America. It can be found in various habitats, including moist mountain forests and subalpine meadows. This rhizomatous perennial herb can grow up to 70 centimeters tall, with leaves that vary in size and shape. Its inflorescence consists of many small white or pink-tinged flowers, each with five corolla lobes and three stamens. Native Americans used the roots of this plant for cooking and as a poultice, despite its unpleasant scent.
