Valeriana celtica, also known as Alpine valerian or valerian spikenard, is a plant in the Caprifoliaceae family. It is found in the Eastern Alps and the Graian and Pennine Alps. This perennial herb grows to be 5 to 15 cm tall and is part of a group of dioecious plants along with Valeriana saxatilis and Valeriana elongata. In the past, it was heavily harvested for its use in perfumes and has also been used as a folk remedy for its nerve tonic properties.
