Staphylea bolanderi, commonly known as Sierra bladdernut, is an uncommon species of bladdernut native to California. It grows as a shrub or small tree, reaching heights of 2-6 meters. Its deciduous leaves are made up of three round or oval leaflets with toothed edges, each leaflet measuring up to 6 cm long. Its inflorescence is a panicle of white flowers drooping on long pedicels, each flower having five petals and five stamens. The fruit is an inflated, bladderlike capsule up to 5 cm long containing smooth brown seeds.
