Eucnide urens, also known as desert rock nettle, is a shrub native to desert regions in California, Arizona, Utah, and Baja California. It is also referred to as desert stingbush, velcro plant, and vegetable velcro. This plant produces cream or pale yellow flowers with 5 petals during the spring and early summer. Its leaves are 2 to 6.5 cm long and have stinging hairs, which are also present on the stems and buds. Eucnide urens grows in rocky and dry areas, particularly on cliffs, and can reach a height of 30 to 60 cm. It is an important food source for desert bighorn sheep.
