Alangium polyosmoides is a rainforest tree that is commonly found in eastern Australia, from Minmi near Newcastle to the McIlwraith Range in far north eastern Australia. It is typically found in the understorey of rainforests and has several common names, including muskwood, black muskheart, brown muskheart, and canary muskheart. The tree is named after the Malabar people, who also have a related species in Asia. Its leaves are oblong-ovate or oblong-elliptical in shape and have a distinct yellow coloration along the veins. The tree produces pale yellow flowers with a honeysuckle scent and dark drupe fruits that are eaten by rainforest birds.
