Commelina caroliniana, also known as the Carolina dayflower, is a herbaceous plant in the dayflower family. It is native to India and Bangladesh, but was introduced to the southeastern United States in the late 17th century. Its scientific and common names are misleading, as it was originally described based on specimens found in the US before it was known to be from India. The plant has also been reported in South Korea and is considered an invasive species there. It has a diffusely spreading growth habit and blue flowers that emerge from summer to fall. Its taxonomy has been debated, but it is now recognized as a distinct species from other Commelina plants. It is commonly found in fields, yards, and along roadsides, and is considered a weed in crops.
