Schaefferia frutescens, also known as the Florida-boxwood, is a flowering plant found in tropical regions of the Americas. It can be found in southern Florida, the Caribbean, Central America, and parts of South America and Mexico. This evergreen shrub or small tree can grow up to 8 meters tall and has smooth light gray bark. Its leaves are leathery and yellow-green, while its small flowers are pale green to whitish and grow in clusters. The plant produces small orange-red to red berries. It can be found at sea level in Florida and up to 600 meters in Puerto Rico.
