Parnassia caroliniana, also known as Carolina grass of Parnassus, is a flowering plant native to the southeastern United States. It can be found in North Carolina, South Carolina, and the Florida Panhandle. This rhizomatous perennial herb grows up to 65 centimeters tall and has distinctive white flowers with five petals. It thrives in moist areas and is often found in habitats with pine trees. However, the species is threatened by activities such as logging, fire suppression, and land development. Conservation efforts are being made at Moores Creek National Battlefield in North Carolina to protect this plant and its habitat.
