Tamarix tetrandra is a deciduous tree with almost black arching branches and tiny scale-like leaves, native to south eastern Europe, Turkey, Bulgaria and Crimea. It can reach a height of 3 meters and produces pale pink flowers in late spring. This plant is commonly found in temperate coastal areas but can also thrive inland with proper sunlight and protection from winter winds. It has been recognized by the Royal Horticultural Society with the Award of Garden Merit. Its scientific name, Tamarix tetrandra, refers to its four-stamen tamarisk.
