Tamarix canariensis is a flowering plant in the Tamaricaceae family, growing as a shrub or small tree up to 4 meters tall. It was previously thought to be native to Macaronesia, northern Africa, and south-western Europe, but is now only found in the Canary Islands. This species was first described in 1816 by Carl Ludwig Willdenow. It is endemic to the Canary Islands and can be found on all the islands except for El Hierro. Tamarix canariensis is typically found at lower altitudes, including the sea shore and estuaries, and can tolerate some salinity.
