Rumex occidentalis, also known as western dock, is a perennial flowering plant found in Western North America. It can grow up to 6 feet tall and has triangular leaves and reddish-brown achenes. This plant is typically found in moist environments such as marshes and wet meadows. It has both medicinal and nutritional uses, with its leaves being used to treat rheumatic pains and its edible leaves, stems, and seeds being consumed as food. However, caution should be taken when consuming large amounts or eating the leaves raw due to the potential high levels of oxalic acid.
