The fruit is a tiny, three-angled achene.
Polygonum minimum is a species of flowering plant in the knotweed family native to much of western North America. It grows in the subalpine and alpine climates of high mountain ranges from Alaska to Arizona and New Mexico, producing slender, stiff, reddish stems up to 30 centimeters (1 foot) long, with lance-shaped to widely oval or nearly round leaves. It bears white flowers with five lobes, and the fruit is a tiny, three-angled achene.
