Eriogonum ursinum, also known as Bear Valley buckwheat or talus buckwheat, is a rare perennial herb found only in northern California. It grows in mountainous regions, specifically in the northern Sierra Nevada and southern Klamath Mountains. The plant forms mats of leaves from a woody base and can reach up to 60 centimeters in width. Its inflorescence, or flower cluster, is made up of pale yellow to pale pink flowers on long, bare stems. This species is characterized by its woolly, pale green to yellowish leaves, which can grow up to two centimeters in length.
