Eriogonum marifolium, also known as marumleaf buckwheat, is a wild buckwheat species found in the Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains of California, as well as parts of Oregon and Nevada. It is a mat-forming sub-shrub that grows on sandy mountain soils and has wavy-edged pale green leaves. The plant can reach heights of 10 to 40 centimeters and has erect, branching inflorescences. The male and female plants have distinct appearances, with the male producing small pale yellow flowers and the female producing larger bright yellow or red flowers.
