Eriogonum kennedyi, also known as Kennedy's buckwheat, is a perennial herb with oval leaves covered in woolly fibers. It is found in dry habitats in California, specifically in the Transverse Ranges, Sierra Nevada foothills, and the high Sierra Nevada and far western Great Basin. There are five varieties of this species, including the federally listed endangered southern mountain buckwheat. Some varieties are important food sources for butterfly species.
