Nepenthes tenuis is a tropical pitcher plant found only on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It was first discovered in 1957, but remained undescribed until 1994. It was only rediscovered in the wild in 2002, after several failed expeditions. The plant grows in mossy and light sub-montane forests at an elevation of 1000-1200 meters above sea level. It is a climbing plant with slender stems and lanceolate leaves. Its pitchers are small and infundibuliform, with two prominent ribs and a flattened peristome. The species is closely related to N. dubia, but can be distinguished by its shorter, broader lids and lack of red flecks on the pitchers. It is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List due to potential threats from habitat destruction and illegal collection.
