Drosera rupicola is a unique plant species found only in Western Australia. It is a perennial with tuberous roots and produces several stems that can reach up to 15 cm in length. What sets it apart from other plants in its genus is its ability to fold over its prey with its mobile leaves. It is mainly found in the inland region of Pithara to Hyden and grows in loamy soils near granite outcrops. Its flowering period is from July to October. This species was first described in 1982 as a subspecies of D. stolonifera, but was later recognized as a distinct species by Allen Lowrie in 2005.
