Cerastium arvense, also known as field mouse-ear or field chickweed, is a widespread species of flowering plant found in Europe, North America, and parts of South America. It is a variable species with disputed subspecies and characteristics. This perennial herb can grow up to 30-45 cm tall and has a mat, clump, creeper, or upright flower form. It is typically hairy in texture and has linear, lance-shaped, or oblong leaves. The inflorescence can range from a single flower to a dense cluster and has five white petals with two lobes and five hairy green sepals at the base. The fruit is a capsule with ten tiny teeth at the tip and contains several brown seeds.
