Schlumbergera kautskyi is a rare species of plant in the cactus family, Cactaceae, that is native to a small area in the coastal mountains of south-eastern Brazil. Its natural habitat is rocky areas, but it is also found growing on trees. This species is threatened by habitat loss due to residential development. It is similar to the popular houseplants known as Christmas cactus or Thanksgiving cactus, and has leafless green stems with flattened segments and purple flowers. Its fruit is four-angled and contains dark brown or black seeds. S. kautskyi was the last species of the genus Schlumbergera to be given a scientific name and is listed as "endangered" on the IUCN Red List.
