Austrocylindropuntia subulata is a cactus species found in the Peruvian Andes. Its name, meaning "awl-like", refers to the shape of its rudimentary leaves. It is also known as Eve's pin and Eve's needle. This cactus can grow up to 4 meters tall with numerous branches and has elongated, brittle stems with spines and bumps. It produces orangy-pink flowers and oval or club-like fruits. Originally from the Peruvian Andes, it has been introduced in other countries and has become invasive in some areas. It was first described in 1845 and classified in the Austrocylindropuntia genus in 1942.
