Halothamnus auriculus is a species of the plant genus Halothamnus, belonging to the subfamily Salsoloideae of the family Amaranthaceae. It is a sub-shrub up to 90 cm high, with variably shaped leaves up to 68 mm long and 2.5-45 mm wide. It has two subspecies: H. auriculus subsp. auriculus and H. auriculus subsp. acutifolius. It is found in northern Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, southern Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, growing in semideserts and dry shrubland. It is used as a fodder plant and for recultivation of pastures, and contains various phytochemicals.
